Do I need a EUR if I have Cloud Computing? line break line break line break line break over the last year or so, the term cloud computing has hit the headlines. There are several new entrants into Cloud Computing the cloud computing industry. The idea is simple, you have all these computers or servers directly connected to the cloud (The Internet) and you have massive computing power at your finger tips. And companies such as Rackspace, GoGrid, Amazon and AT T are all rich with a form of cloud computing services from this company or another.

The from the simple “cloud storage”, in fully scalable virtual servers multi-tenant in the cloud cloud.

When Computing

The great benefit these services is the instant setup and “unlimited scalability.” If you want a new website, with a few clicks, you get a new Linux or Windows machine. They make it easy for you, from pre-installation services such as SQL, Mail, and in some cases, applications such as Windows Media or Wowza streaming server.

The setup process is driven into the Rules Wizard, and they take the guesswork out of setting up of server software and services.

A few cloud computing providers and partners with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) to offer cloud storage. Basically, you are your files in the cloud storage and they are well on CDN.

Sounds, why do I even have a CDN?

All resources on these services are virtualized and shared boxes. You are not dedicated. The services are either not fully managed. They would be responsible for software updates, patches, licenses, etc., although one should not always have the hardware or bandwidth really be affected. The idea behind cloud computing is that you only pay more, and they devote more resources to your servers.

If you already have a data center or web server, you are welcome to move your web pages or web server to a cloud computing provider. This may mean can consider waiver of hardware and software you are in. You already to reduce new server in a cloud environment, or to win flexibility.

If you have invested a lot of sites it may be useful to have a Cloud providers compared consider a regular web host provider. You have more control over your domains and depending on your provider, you may be able to scale easily. You would also have full root access to the Web server to configure it as you want. It would be like a dedicated server package from a web host provider.

If you use a cloud computing company instead of EUR, EUR, you think only your own cloud within their plan, once again! Start talking to your cloud computing provider these questions: How many data centers are they? What kind of peering agreements do they have? What are their peek bandwidth / egress capabilities? Where in the world they are hosted? Your server will be replicated anywhere in the world or just in the U.S., only in a data center? Are there additional costs for Europe, Asia and Australia involved in delivery? What if you need server for streaming videos, they do it? What about mobile delivery? Do they offer token-based authentication? Pseudo-flash streaming? What about encoding and transcoding? Does your cloud computing providers have no content management software or videos? Do they support live video delivery? These are all questions to consider if you want a cloud computing company instead of a Tier 1 EUR CDN.

A as Limelight or Akamai’s use of thousands of servers to have your content all over the world to think cache. They provide all ancillary services associated with content. A EUR supports streaming and HTTP progressive download. You will probably Adobe, Microsoft and Apple servers. A EUR able to support live events. In addition, you accelerate in a position, your entire site, with Akamai or Limelight Limelight DSA-site services. They are not only videos with a ceiling of EUR is, can any content be delivered via a CDN.

You will probably find that the integration of a CDN is easier and less time consuming than the education of new servers and managed. In some cases, with a EUR it can be as simple as a CNAME pointing to the EUR or just upload your content them.

Pricing

Certainly, the pricing of cloud computing is attractive as a CDN. But you need to find out what your needs and find the right combination of services.

Mosso by RackSpace line break line break line break line break $ 100/month50 GB storage space500 GB monthly bandwidth10, 000 compute cycles. Compute cycles measure how much processing time your applications require on the Mosso cloud. 10 000 compute cycles roughly correspond to the monthly capacity of a server with a 2.8 GHz modern processor. prices are per month from there.

GoGrid: BREAK LINE LINE LINE BREAK BREAK BREAK LINE $ .19/hour RAM (add more RAM to pay more) $ 136/month per 1 GB of RAM, plus $ .50/GB transmission outbound10GB storage included $ .15/GB thereafter free load balancing with F5 Load balancers

Amazon EC2: BREAK LINE LINE LINE BREAK BREAK BREAK LINE $ .10/hour to $ .80/hour for “On Demand” setup $ 325 to $ 2600 + $ .24 to $ .03/hour setup / hour for a “reserved” server $ .10/GB on incoming traffic $ 0.10 to $ .17/GB for outgoing traffic through the S3 storage service will be extra extra other services

AT T Synaptic Storage as a Service: line break line break line break line break pricing does not disclosed
CDN pricing line break line break line break line break pricing for CDN service will vary greatly depending on what you want and where do you get if off. With the Tier 1 CDNs expected to sign a minimum commitment per month and a one-year contract. With a Tier 2 EUR, as Level3, CDNetworks, EdgeCast, etc, you get a month-to-month contract and lower prices, but you can not get the same service for CDNs either.

Pricing be anywhere from around $ .05/GB $ 1.00 per GB or more depending on what you undertake. Remember to only get the biggest contracts in the hundreds of TB in the petabyte range up to the $ .05/GB. If you add on additional services, you will be adding to your monthly bill, as well.

It appears that Rackspace wins on pricing, though, as you add more CPU cycles and storage, they can increase significantly. Rackspace is also is known for its customer service that count for many. Amazon’s pricing seems confused and confusing, it looks cheap on the outside, but if you all your inbound / outbound, storage and Class of Service, the pricing is not too aggressive. In addition, Amazon is not known for customer service at all. Getting a hold of tech support can be a chore. GoGrid pricing is very close to Rackspace ‘and their product seems top notch, and the free load balancing among a lot, so do not count out GoGrid. Finally, AT T just announced until their cloud storage product. Their website does not disclose prices . Good luck always someone at AT T on the phone that will help their product.

Conclusion

If you are looking at cloud computing to increase website performance, you can look at a CDN first. Examine why your site is under implementation. Need more databases, you need more than one mail server? Need more domains? These are all reasons to get to cloud computing. But if you have a lot of videos, music or software downloads or your pages are slow, then a CDN is the way to go!

Ideally, will use your best solution for both a cloud computing company, and a CDN. This will give you optimal performance, flexibility and reliability.

This idea regarding ‘autoscaling’ is among the most poster child regarding clouds adopting since it positively shows the energy and adaptability supplied by clouds facilities. At an person program levels, a fantastic part of the enterprise event for cloud sets with simply investing in your figure out reference truly needed.Without autoscaling, a credit card applicatoin started in the impair isn’t more efficient rolling around in its make use of methods than in a conventional, actual, as well as virtualized natural environment and will have a similar ‘over provisioning’ forced to match summit requirement.Together with autoscaling, a credit application is able to reduce its consumption to suit real requirement and also raise productivity considerably, specially for the app with a higher difference between maximum as well as off-peak desire. The only public as well as individual cloud podium providing you with virtually any app autoscaling functionality can be AWS. It is just a demand series instrument. If you want to autoscale a credit card applicatoin, you might need a cloud managing instrument including enStratus which recognizes the approval architectural mastery which enables it to automatically request extra means and fasten all of them into your targeted buildings based on your outlined climbing principles. One example is, some sort of clouds security provider allows you to level different tiers of an software according to fundamental metrics such as Computer utilization, or upon personalized business operate like transaction per 2nd as well as contingency active end users.Additionally, you can establish autoscaling around locations or even throughout confuses; consequently by way of example, you might range internet tier approximately Ten occasions with your foriegn.net private clouds, but put additional net example, throughout EC2, while maintaining your data source rate in your personal clouds.Choose clouds stability suppliers can certainly autoscale inside one of the community or perhaps exclusive confuses that individuals help — Amazon online World wide web Providers, ATTestosterone levels Synaptic Storage space, Fog up.internet, CloudSigma, EMC Atmos, Eucalyptus, Google Safe-keeping, GoGrid, OpenStack, Rackspace, ReliaCloud, ServerExpress, Terremark, VMware in addition to Home windows Azure. We’ve got observed autoscaling contributes value with a amazing quantity of request deployments, not only the actual very volatile programs which might be so frequently mentioned. A small amount of awareness can often eliminate cloud monthly bill by a substantial amount.

Panzura has just announced a major update to the Panzura Operating System (PZOS) and Quicksilver Cloud Storage Controller today at Interop. PZOS and the Quicksilver controller are two critical components in Panzura’s Global Cloud Storage System, which allows clients to integrate with existing infrastructures to present the cloud as local NAS backup storage. These technologies work in tandem with Panzura’s CloudFS file system to offer a globally-distributed file system, built-in enterprise security and data protection, high speed data transfer rates to and from the cloud.

The Panzura architecture brings together a single namespace and global file system to manage file creation, locking, storage, security and replication across all locations in real time, making the latest versions of any file visible and available to anywhere regardless of where it was created or last edited. High-performance global file locking is managed dynamically with minimal overhead, preventing data collisions and ensuring data integrity regardless of the numbers of users, file sizes, or user locations.

Panzura Global Cloud Storage System Overview

File Sharing and Project Collaboration: Panzura offers a globally-distributed, integrated file system and unified namespace; dynamic file locking to prevent simultaneous write corruption; military-grade encryption with datacenter control over the key; and extended file system access control list (ACL) support, that allow management of collaborative data by distributed teams.

Accelerated Data Transfer Rates: Comprised of a 10GbE connector and 10GbE I/O option, Quicksilver controller now moves data to and from the cloud 10x faster than competing solutions, offering global deduplication for enhanced efficiency, data management and referencing. Improved inline local and global deduplication yields capacity reduction essential for storage and network bandwidth optimization.

Intelligent Read Caching: IRC keeps a local copy of warm data for improved performance. Once full, least-recently-used files are evicted from the cache (unless pinned) to accommodate newer data. The authoritative copy is always stored in the cloud; however, IRC minimizes response times for file access even during variations in cloud connectivity.

Data Pinning: Pinning blocks and files to a controller’s local cache ensures that pinned data can be accessed at LAN speed with guaranteed availability, even if it is older than LRU data.

User-Managed Snapshots: In addition to standard system snapshots stored in the global file system, PZOS 3.0 now provides up to 10,000 user-managed snapshots per controller. User-managed snapshots improve recovery times and productivity by enabling self-service file/version recoverability to end users without having to involve system administrators.

Disaster Recovery (DR): The Quicksilver Cloud Storage Controller records the state of storage across the CloudFS file system. Should the WAN connection to any Quicksilver controller be lost, other controllers still have visibility of and access to the files owned by that controller, avoiding losing access to data at a given location. If a site is totally lost and needs to be recovered, it can be done in the cloud using a VMware VM or on-site. The newly spun-up controller reflects the state of the metadata, data, deduplication tables, and cache at the point of its last synch with the cloud.

Disk Layout: Disk layout is optimized within each Quicksilver controller, parallelizing I/O across multiple RAID groups to improve data processing, protection and performance by 3x. By moving from a 10+2 to 3*(3+1) RAID group and improving the way I/Os process and distribute data, users see performance improvement and get an extra parity drive for improved recoverability time.

Backup with Symantec or IBM: PZOS 3.0 now integrates with Symantec NetBackup and IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM), two leading enterprise backup solutions, enabling customers to leverage low-cost, scalable cloud storage to back up structured data such as databases or Exchange data.

Panzura CloudFS File System

CloudFS presents the same view to all Quicksilver controllers, regardless of location, allowing seamless access to all files in the system across a global fabric without having to migrate files from their native local storage environment where they are robustly protected. Files can be browsed, opened, edited, and saved as needed, regardless of where they were created or last accessed. CloudFS prevents users from accidentally making conflicting file changes and does not require administrator intervention to maintain write order fidelity and atomic file synchronization.

Quicksilver Cloud Storage Controller

Panzura’s Quicksilver controllers have received hardware upgrades, including increased memory and faster CPUs, 10GbE connectivity, optimized disk configuration, and a 50% increase in local cache capacity, with local raw storage scaling up to almost one-third petabyte (PB).

Quicksilver Controller Specs

Panzura has just announced a major update to the Panzura Operating System (PZOS) and Quicksilver Cloud Storage Controller today at Interop. PZOS and the Quicksilver controller are two critical components in Panzura’s Global Cloud Storage System, which allows clients to integrate with existing infrastructures to present the cloud as local NAS backup storage. These technologies work in tandem with Panzura’s CloudFS file system to offer a globally-distributed file system, built-in enterprise security and data protection, high speed data transfer rates to and from the cloud.
